A proximity card reader is a type of device that is used to control access to a building or area. It consists of a card reader that is mounted on the door or gate, and a corresponding proximity card that is carried by the user.
To gain access, the user simply holds the proximity card up to the card reader. The card reader uses radio frequency technology to detect the card and verify the user's identity. If the card is recognized, the card reader will send a signal to the lock mechanism to unlock the door or gate, allowing the user to enter.
